Measurement of coronary circulation time with a catheter type micro G-M counter.

چکیده
Coronary circulation time was measured in 17 dogs using a micro G-M counter attached to the tip of catheter and a radioactivity recording circuit with minimal time delay. P32-orthophosphate sodium solution was injected instantaneously into the left ventricle and its arrival into the right side of the heart was monitored in situ with the G-M counter. A biphasic curve was recorded in the right ventricle, of which the earlier peak was indebted to coronary circulation, and the later one to systemic. The early peak was inscribed also in the right atrium and coronary sinus, but in neither the superior nor the inferior vena cava. The average coronary circulation time from the left ventricle to the right ventricle was 2.2•}1.0 (S.D.) sec., ranging from 0.9 to 3.8 sec. in 9 dogs, when measured as the transit time of peak radioactivity. The value thus obtained was appreciably shorter than those reported previously by others. Since one of the probable reasons of this discrepancy was the inadequate accuracy of conventional methods, the superiority of our technic was discussed briefly.

Effect of Nondimensional Parameters On the Internal Circulation of a Liquid Drop Moving with the Surrounding Gas
The internal flow circulation dynamics of a liquid drop moving in a co- or counter-flowing gas stream has been numerically studied. The present work is concerned with the time accurate numerical solution of the two phase flow field at the low Mach number limit with an appropriate volume tracking method to capture motion and deformation of a liquid drop. It is shown that relative velocity betwee...

متن کاملTransluminal, subselective measurement of coronary artery blood flow velocity and vasodilator reserve in man.
Assessment of coronary blood flow and the vasodilator reserve capacity of individual coronary arteries in the catheterization laboratory has been hampered by methodologic limitations. We have developed and validated a small Doppler catheter that can subselectively measure phasic coronary blood flow velocity (CBFV). In seven anesthetized calves, CBFV was varied from 0.1 to 5.7 times control CBFV...
متن کاملAssessment of severity of coronary stenoses using a Doppler catheter. Validation of a method based on the continuity equation.
The coronary Doppler catheter has been used primarily in the measurement of coronary vasodilator reserve, most often as the ratio of peak to resting velocity in response to an intracoronary dose of papaverine. We have developed a new method based on the continuity equation using a Doppler catheter for the assessment of stenosis severity in the coronary circulation by means of quantitative veloc...
متن کاملComparing the Effect of Continuous and Intermittent Irrigation Techniques on Complications of Arterial Catheter and Partial Thromboplastin Time in Patients Following Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery
Background: Different approaches are available to irrigate the arterial catheter, such as continuous and intermittent techniques. However, there is a disagreement regarding the most appropriate method. Aim: this study aimed to compare the effect of two continuous and intermittent irrigation methods on complications of arterial catheter and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) in patients with coro...
